About the project

The Core Concept: Humanizing the Silent Giants

Sanga-sangang Salaysay (Branching Narratives) asks an evocative question: "If these trees could talk, what would they say?"

The UPLB campus serves as a living witness to centuries of history and academic growth. This project positions the artist as an interpreter, translating the "wisdom" of Heritage Trees into tangible art and giving a voice to the environment through the artist's unique creative lens.

Central to this vision is the humanizing of our botanical landscape. By treating trees as sentient elders rather than mere specimens, we bridge the gap between biological science and human emotion.

We invite the community to see these trees as relatable figures—witnesses who have "felt" the passage of generations, "listened" to student aspirations, and "survived" the same historical shifts as the people of Los Baños. Through this humanized lens, a heritage tree is no longer just a landmark; it becomes a neighbor, a mentor, and a shared ancestor.
